We Blazed the Trail; Motoring to Yellowstone in Mike Dowling's Oakland!
Dowling was the third president of the Yellowstone Trail Association and the first to drive the Yellowstone Trail from Minneapolis to Yellowstone National Park. Without lower legs, without one arm, and without most fingers of the remaining hand, he became a public speaker on the national scene, a school teacher and administrator, a bank owner, an auto garage owner, and a celebrated public figure.
This book is his story as told to his grandson, Barry Prichard, by his daughter (Barry's mother) Dorothy Dowling Prichard.
The story and pictures of his western trip are a real contribution to Yellowstone Trail history. Also included is the story of his eastern trip to determine the route of the Yellowstone Trail.
