This is a list of towns along the Yellowstone Trail in Montana.  They are arranged from east to west.  Mileages are from Minneapolis as recorded in the 1920's and are listed here as an approximate indication of modern distances.  Added to this list will be information about historic buildings, bridges, and sites. [The Mile-by-Mile pages are just being developed (Spring 2005) and will contain minimal information for some time.]

All this is adjacent to the Montana State University Southern Agricultural Experiment Station, with the barns and buildings that started out a hundred years ago as the Demonstration Farm for the Irrigation Project, publishing results and advice about how to produce the best crons and livestock for this area.   The rich history of the local food industry in the Huntley area is told through the museum's many agricultural and domestic exhibits, equipment, and buildings.   Paul Daniels, Museum Director

SPUR TO YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK
From the 1913 Tour Book Montana,Montana State Automobile Association, p.83: Very good road at all times.  "Road Conditions: Gravel and disintegrated granite makes this one of Montana's best highways.  Thousands of dollars were spent in improving this road during the past year.  The Park County Automobile Club of Livingston is a live organization."
This 1913 route became known as  Yellowstone Trail Road and remains so named today.  The main highway moved about over the years, including various routes on the east side of Yellowstone River, and it is presumed that the route of the YT moved accordingly at the time, but this western route was first, was primary, and still retains the name.
